THE REGISTRATION (AMENDMENT) ACT 2018 (XXVI of 2018) CONTENTS

1. Short title, extent and commencement 2. Amendment in section 17 of Act XVI of 1908 TEXT 1 THE REGISTRATION (AMENDMENT) ACT 2018 (XXVI of 2018) [24th May, 2018] An Act further to amend the Registration Act, 1908. It is necessary further to amend the Registration Act, 1908 (XVI of 1908) for purposes hereinafter appearing. Be it enacted by Provincial Assembly of the Punjab as follows:

1. Short title, extent and commencement.–

(1) This Act may be cited as the Registration (Amendment) Act 2018.

(2) It shall extend to whole of the Punjab.

(3) It shall come into force at once.

2. Amendment in section 17 of Act XVI of 1908.–

In the Registration Act, 1908 (XVI of 1908), in section 17: (a) in subsection (1), after clause (b), the following clause (bb) shall be inserted:

“(bb) an instrument which grants power to an attorney or which constitutes an agreement to create, declare, assign, limit or extinguish, by way of sale, any right, title or interest of the value of one hundred rupees and upwards, to or in immovable property;”; and

(b) in subsection (2), in clause (v), before the semicolon at the end, the following shall be inserted:

“except a document which grants power to an attorney or is an agreement to sell any right, title or interest of the said value in immovable property”
